Dr. Noel is an Associate Professor Emeritus of Historical Studies at the University of Toronto, Mississauga. She was educated at the University of Toronto and is a specialist in Early Canadian history with a focus on gender issues. She has published 35 articles and several books including New France: Les Femmes Favorisses and The First French Canadian Women (UTP, 2013). In 2014, Dr. Noel was the recipient of the Kerr Prize for her work on Aboriginal women in the Fur Trade.
