On October 20, 2023, Cathy Darbell and Robert Campbell staffed a United Empire Loyalist table at the in-service event for the Manitoba Social Studies Teachers’ Association. We found that the teachers were very responsive and we made a number of new contacts. Our branch is able to make available to Social Studies teachers age-appropriate materials on the history of Loyalism to use in their classes. A number of our members are also available to do presentations to school classes. When they do, they wear period clothing from the American revolutionary era to give students a keener picture of life in that time.
Earlier in the year, Robert, Mary Steinhoff, and Peter Rogers were able to interact directly with junior high students from several schools who gathered for the Red River Heritage Fair at the University of Winnipeg.
