United Empire Loyalists'

Association of Canada

Manitoba Branch

  • To identify and unite those descendants of Loyalists living in Manitoba

  • To offer assistance with the research of Loyalist ancestry

  • To present educational programs relating to the Loyalist legacy

  • To inform current generations of the significant contributions made by the Loyalists and their descendants to the formation and growth of Canada

Those Loyalists who have adhered to the Unity of the Empire, and joined the Royal Standard before the Treaty of Separation in the year 1783, and all their Children and their Descendants by either sex, are to be distinguished by the following capitals: UE. Alluding to their great principle The Unity of the Empire.

Proclaimed by Lord Dorchester in 1789 for loyalty to the crown, the UE is Canada's only hereditary title and descends through both male and female lines. The United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada was formed in 1914 by Loyalist descendants. The Winnipeg Branch of the association was formed in 1932 and received its charter in 1937. In 1997, it was renamed the Manitoba Branch.
